took a email template from a table . have to add a place holder to hold a banner in the template
how to add place holder and replace it with a different banner

Simplest manner would be to use REPLACE() and some easy pattern.


 select REPLACE('HELLO <NAME>, HOW ARE YOU', '<NAME>', 'TOM') from dual;

If the banner / template is more complex, consider using REGEXP_REPLACE(), the regular expression version, though this requires 10g and up.
