Need help configuring BARCODE scanner

Can someone assist me with configuring/programming a computer barcode scanner? I tried to configure with the manual with no avail. I just need it for scanning laptops barcodes, for example, instead of typing the number located in the box, I would just scan it to my PC (similar to a NOTEPAD). All I need is to make it work with NOTEPAD and this should do the trick. Thanks

Attached is the manual.

This looks like a PS2 keyboard device.

You should just connect this to the PS3 keyboard socket and then plug in the PS2 keyboard into the PS2 socket attached to the cable.

Are you by any chance using a USB keyboard?  If so you will need to switch to a PS2 one?

connection is not a problem. I've already tried scanning but it does not work. it needs to be re-programmed.

Ah OK.

These are normally programming by scanning the configuration barcodes.

If you look at the manual you attached. Go to section 5, page 5-1 onwards and you will see various bar codes you need to print put and scan for configurations.

I know the barcodes are there. And trust me I have tried scanning them all (is why I added the manual here) the thing is that I don't know what I am doing....there are many barcodes. Can you specify which barcodes will program this scanner??

I would suggest then to reset it first back to defaults by scanning the "Set All Defaults" code on page 5-6

Then set the country type on page 5-94 by scanning the correct code

Then set the system type by scanning correct code on page 5-11, I guess it would be either "IBM PX/AT" or "IBM PC XT"

Also turn on "Beep after good decode" on page 5-16. This will beep when a correct barcode is scanned.

Depending on what bar codes you plan to scan, you might need to set options on pages 5-22 to 5-26 and there are also various other types you can enable or disable.

I'd say try and scan a code and see if you get a beep and if you have notepad activated, see if anything gets put into it.

This method worked and now I am able to scan barcodes. What is the meaning of the last scan option that you gave me? I don't understand what is the use of that, Can you please explain?

Theer are various standards to the barcodes, as not all barcodes are the same and you for certain barcodes you might need to turn on the option to scan that variant.

Althiough I'd say if its working then you can maybe ignore that.
