[sg] Finagle's Law of Dynamic Negatives
Posted on 2011-04-30
O'Toole's Corollary of Finagle's Law says: The perversity of the Universe tends towards a maximum.
Nothing was ever so true.
I experienced a perfect example of the perversity of the Universe this morning.
I was driving on a two-lane highway with no chance for passing; trapped in a looong line of other drivers behind someone driving 25mph in a 60mph zone.
There must have been thirty of us.
After about 10 minutes of this I began to ponder the situation and this question developed:
What malicious design of the Universe puts the slow-driving, inconsiderate driver at the front of a long line of cars instead of at the rear?
I mean, really!
If that turd was at the back of the line then none of us would have had to spend a good part of our morning watching him wander along, with snails and turtles zooming past!
A poorly thought-out design, methinks.
Obviously there was no Quality Assurance department involved in the basic planning of this reality.
I want to call a share-holder's meeting to see about some revisions!
What examples of O'Toole's Corollary have you experienced lately?
