I am migrating a test user from Exchange 2003 in Forest/Domain A, to a new Exchange 2010 server in Forest/Domain B.  I am new to the EM Shell and Exchange 2010.  I am following the instructions posted here: http://msgsense.com/2011/01/18/cross-forest-move-mailbox-request-from-exchange-2003-to-2010/

I get all the way down to step 8 where I have to run New-MoveRequest and after I enter the command, it just sits at a >> prompt and appears to do nothing... I can type or close the window but it doesn't take me back to the actual prompt, just two >> symbols... am I supposed to run something else?  I'm stuck!

Here is my basic network info:

"server" is the sole DC/GC for "DomainA.com" and runs Server & Exchange 2003.
"newserver" is the DC/GC for "Office.DomainB.com" and runs Server 2008
"exchange" is the new Exchange 2010 box

Here is the full command I am trying to run for Step 8:

New-MoveRequest -Identity “CN=testuser, OU=Staff,DC=office,DC=domainB,DC=com” -RemoteLegacy -TargetDatabase “Mailbox Database 0791256001 -RemoteGlobalCatalog server.domainA.com -RemoteCredential $Remote -TargetDeliveryDomain “office.domainB.com”

I DO see the test users "disconnected" mailbox on exchange 2010 and the user exists in the new forest too... but if I try to connect the Mailbox to the users account, it cannot find the account...   When I finished step 7 (Prepare Move Request), it DID say "1 mailbox ready to move"...

What am I missing here?

Your missing a quote in your database name
New-MoveRequest -Identity “CN=testuser, OU=Staff,DC=office,DC=domainB,DC=com” -RemoteLegacy -TargetDatabase “Mailbox Database 0791256001" -RemoteGlobalCatalog server.domainA.com -RemoteCredential $Remote -TargetDeliveryDomain “office.domainB.com”

Sorry, the quotes were there, it didn't cut and paste over properly, apparently.. still stuck.

Ok, I fixed the Syntax!  But now I think my credentials aren't working... I am getting

Cannot bind argument to parameter 'RemoteCredential' because it is null.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidData: (:) [New-MoveRequest], ParameterBindingValidationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterArgumentValidationErrorNullNotAllowed,New-MoveRequest

Still stuck..

Ok, I somehow managed to coax it into working!  yay!

I re-did the authentication commands and used the netbios domain name.. dunno if that made a difference or not.. but I was able to successfully run the command and now I see the mailbox 'moving' in the EMC!
