How to set up a simple local web server on XP to test Submit events

I'd like to set up a Web server/service to simulate posts from a client machine.  I would also like to be able to do this on just one XP machine.

Thus, I would have two VS projects - one Web Client Site, and one Web Server.

Is this possible on XP using VS 2008?  If so, I would appreciate the Web Server code for a very simple scenario.  I only need the server to accept one post from the client.

xammp for windows is what you need!
this is for php and apache server

and for a  microsoft server you need windows server.

Isn't it possible to just use the VS 2008 provision?  In other words, to do the type of simulation I want to do, is IIS or any of these other methods necessary?

As I say, ideally, I would have two VS projects, one as the client and the other as the server.  I want to simulate a few transactions.

Vs can do this. Xp comes with iis6 which is no good IMO. Recently micosoft released iis standalone which is a nifty way to run iis7.5 on xp.

I don't suppose IIS 7.5 is a free download is it?

I'll end up doing this in VS 2008 but I'm just curious in case I decide to set it up later.
