Have you installed any media programs such VLC or have you installed a program called Folder Size? This is what would cause this.

From this review of Folder Size:
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=477&pgno=1
Folder Children, File Children and All Children display the total folders, total files and total files plus folders respectively. With all these activated, you don't have to check the Properties of each folder to find out the number of files and their sizes anymore. Unfortunately, activating all these options will definitely use up some resources.

So they only apply to folders, and tell you how many other folders are contained within the given folder (aka children folders), how many files are within the folder (aka children files), and how many folders + files are withing the folder (aka all children).
