hp dv9700 no HP logo on startup

Cannot get access to BIOS.  HP logo will not come up during boot. Have tried numerous things.  Have pulled drive and battery, help power down for 15 secs and then retried on AC only.  Logo showed once with access to BIOS but then could not get it again.  Is this likely a MOBO issue?  What is the function key for BIOS access.  Seems to be disagreement when searching the web.  BTW....all the LEDs are lit on start as well as the screen.

When in doubt, I try them all, it should be either f1, f2, f10, or del.  Just keep hitting them over and over until it says "entering setup..." or until you overload the buffer (lots of beeps)

If the buffer overloads it means that each of the keys are in the buffer and it should spit them out in time to catch the bios before it's done posting.

Hope this helps!

Yes it is the motherboard, that's a common problem with HP dv9000's. It will have to be repaired or replaced but DO NOT buy a used MB. The vast majority of them have been improperly repaired and won't last a month or so.

If you can't find a new MB your best bet is to have your old one repaired. Select a reputable repair service from this list.
