configure windows fax to use outlook contacts in windows 7 64bit

I would love to use winfax pro.  but it is not compatible with windows 7 64bit.  I'm happy to use windows fax and scan (wfs).  But I can't seem to get it to see contacts in outlook 2007.  I assume I'm using 32 bit office, since it doesn't say 64bit in about.  but I don't see how to tell.  I maybe using 64bit since it installed in program files and not program files (x86).  I have read in formums that 64bit outlook won't connect with wfs.  So then how do I install office 32bit.  I have only one install disk and I didn't see a choice when I installed it.

thanks

jon

sorry don't see how this relates.  I'm just trying to use wfs on a stand alone workstation, and I want to use my outlook contacts as an address book.  winfox pro had no problem with this. but windfax pro doesn't work in windows 7

Sorry for wrong posting of my previous comment which is my comment to another question.

Just look into your question and it seems that it is a bug of Windows 7 64 bit with Outlook 2007 and 2010 and there is no fix from MS yet.

According to Eric Guo, it says:-

64bit Client "Fax and Scan" with Outlook 2007 Contacts:

64bit Client "Fax and Scan" with Outlook 2007 Contacts:

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Partner Online Tech Community. This is Eric and I'll be assisting you on this inquiry.

This problem occurs because Outlook is a 32bit application and Outlook runs on a WOW layer on 64bit operating system. The 32-bit outlook.exe sets the registry key in 32-bit wow registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail and it cannot be used by the 64bit Fax and Scan. So, we cannot launch the Outlook Contact list directly in Windows Fax in Windows 7 64 bit. The same behavior can be seen in Windows Vista 64bit and Windows XP 64bit. Also, the MAPI used is 32 bit.

Therefore, when we launch Contacts in Windows Fax and Scan on 64bit Windows 7, we will not see the Outlook contact list.

Workaround

As you could see, the workaround will be to export the contact list from Outlook and import it to Windows Address Book.

If you needs to use the Outlook contacts in Windows Fax and Scan, you can export the contact list from Outlook and then import it into Windows Address Book.

(1) How to export the contact list from Outlook

- Launch Outlook
- Click the File menu and then choose “Import and Export”
- Choose “Export to a file” and then click Next
- Choose “Comma Separated Values (Windows)” and then click Next
- Choose Contacts. Click Next
- Save the file and then click Finish

(2) How to import contact in Windows Address Book

- In Windows, open Contacts
- Click Import
- Choose CSV (Comma Separated Values)
- Choose the file you save in step (1)
- Click Next. Click Finish

After that, you will get the Outlook contacts in Windows Address Book for Fax and Scan to use."

Nothing ever in the clear!

This technical paper will help you implement VMware’s VM encryption as well as implement Veeam encryption which together will achieve the nothing ever in the clear goal. If a bad guy steals VMs, backups or traffic they get nothing.

In short, you need to upgrade to Office 2010 64 bit or convert Windows 64 bit to 32 bit (a major surgery and I will not recommend).

This problem still persists... I have W7 x64 workstations, running Office 2010 Std x64, and Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) still does not see the Outlook contacts or Contacts Public Folder. Exporting the contacts to the Windows Contacts is ridiculous and a nightmare to support with 100+ systems... prefer centralized public folder. Is there a workaround/fix yet??

I switched to Fax Talk FaxCenter Pro.  Works great and also emails faxes directly out of outlook.

I looked over Fax Talk but its more for a small office and/or individual, reminds me of WinFax Pro. I'm looking for an enterprise solution that could support over 100+ users, may end up going with HylaFax but that depends on the results from out tests. HylaFax is open source but iFax Solutions provides a supported HylaFax Enterprise product with maintenance.
