SQL 2008 lost SA password

Is there a simple way to recover the sa password?  The database uses both windows and sql server authentication, can get into the system but am trying to get back sys admin permissions.

hi Jack_son_

usually all users in the windows administrators group are by default in the SQL sysadmin group

so you can create a user in windows and keep it in Administrators group, login with it to SQL and change your sa password.

Try using Following Steps.

Login to Windows with an administrator account
Login to SQL with Windows Authentication.
Expand Server - > Security - > Logins - > sa
Right-Click sa and select Properries.
NOTE:
You Must have Administration Privillages on the Local Computer.

the bulletin\admin group seems to only have public access and unable to reset the password.  Is there perhaps another way?

if you are in a network (domain) All domain administrators will have full sysadmin, ask any network admin to add back your BUILTIN\Administrators to sysadmin or just directly reset you SA

if your not in a Domain, i guess you have 1 option left before reinstalling.

1. Connecting to SQL Server When System Administrators Are Locked Out
