Outlook 2007 Receiving Issues

I have a customer that is using Outlook 2007 with on an XP computer. He is currently up to date and his computer is in otherwise, good health.

When either you push the Send/Receive' button or it does it automatically, the progress dialog box goes successfully through the Sending part, but, then gets hung up while receiving. It might show that it is receiving 1 of 2 emails and shows that it downloaded so many bytes of the incmoing emails. Meanwhile, it appears that all the emails have downloaded.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook. I have used the ScanPST.exe file on his default *;pst file and it still continues to do it. The HDD is in good condition fragment wise (<7%). Any suggestions?

Check to see if this box has a quick connection to the web. I'm assuming it's pulling mail down from a pop3 account on a web server.

I'm run disk maintenance, clear cache, temp files, and general cleanup and try again.

1. Send settings are working, it can be seen in the 'Test', section as well as empirically sending emails. ISP is cable and we're wide open.
2. I double checked the Receive settings. He is still receiving emails, it's just that the dialogue box always shows at least 1 or 2 emails that ostensibly aren't coming through.
3. I will try compacting the pst file tonight - he works all day and a few hours at night, need to wait till he gets off so that I can remote in.
4. It doesn't seem to be anything with attachments, as again, some emails with attachments are getting through. I still don't know those 1 or 2 that don't get through if they have attachments or not.
5. I will test without the AV tonight.
Thanks for your responses - I'll let you know.

The box has a 25 x 25 MB connection to the web. Last night when I was testing it, it did 25 down x 3 up - at that time, two computers were uploading their daily backups.
Disk maintenance is scheduled weekly, like I said above, disk fragmentation on all disks (3) are below 7%. Cache, temp files were removed and the system cleaned... Still to no avail.

Just for your own edification, it was the antivirus. That computer is using Sunbelt Software - Vipre Home. There were two settings that were off: 1 - one the page for email protection, multiple email programs were checked off instead of just Outlook, 2 - Under Phishing, one option for sending a copy to quarantine had to be unchecked.

After that everything was fine. Thanks for the input and sorry for the delay. He's an author and works erratic hours. I have to schedule my remote-in times....
