7-zip is not working

Hi, I have a file "abc.tar.gz", I tried to use 7-zip to unzip it but failed. I have to use winrar or winzip. Why?
My step: right click the file "abc.tar.gz" then do something.

Thanks

I just tried file similar to yours here, and it opened fine in 7Zip.  It sounds like even though your file is named as a GZ file it may not be in that format.  Can you post a sample file that doesn't work there?

To have the "explorer extensions" working you must run at least once the 7-zip from the Start Menu, and from Tools\Options menu you must "Associate 7-Zip with" and check the extensions you want to manage with 7-Zip - make sure you have selected the .GZ and .TAR file extensions.
