Problem importing PST using ExMerge utility

I have an exchange 2003 server from which I regularly use exmerge to export exchange server 2007 mailbox contents to pst. I recently tried to import a pst to a mailbox on the exchange 2007 server and received this ldap and mapi error:

[09:44:46] Error 8007203a opening an LDAP connection. ('LDAP://USATL01ME200/rootDSE')  (CADRoutines::GetNamingContextData)

[09:46:15] Error configuring message service (MSPST MS) (MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR)  (CMapiSession::CreateEMSPSTProfile)

[09:46:15] Errors encountered. Copy process aborted for mailbox 'Msg Team Test' ('MSGTEST').

The PST's name matches the mailbox's alias and LegacyExchangeDN. Is there a fix for this? I prefer to use exmerge rather than the export-mailbox cmdlet.

Thank you.

Are you able to attach to the .pst file through an Outlook client?  If so, just attach to the target mailbox and drag and drop the messages over.  Also is this happening with multiple .pst files or just one?

You need to be on a workstation that has Outlook installed.

Exmerge won't run on a worksatation, it requires exchange server to be installed.

Hopefully, you are using Exmerge to extract the PST from Exchange 2003 but using Import-Mailbox powershell cmdlet to import into Exchange 2007.

This seems to be a clear description of pre-requisites and so on...

In that case, to echo DanArseneau's comments above, you really should be using the Import-Mailbox cmdlet.  It's easy to script if you wan to automate the process.

I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323546 exactly and I still get an error message. I created account exmerge, gave it view only admin right, gave it receive -as and send-as rights on mailstore an still get the same rrror message

If I export a mailbox to PST using exmerge I can successfulyl re-import it into the same mailbox using exmerge. But if I rename another PST to match the mailbox's "Directory Name" and try to import it, it errors out.

Error configuring message service (MSPST MS) (MAPI_E_EXTENDED_ERROR)  (CMapiSession::CreateEMSPSTProfile)
Errors encountered. Copy process aborted for mailbox 'Msg Team Test' ('MSGTEST').

So, now I am totally confused. Oh well, I guess exmerge goes in the garbage and I should get started writing those import-mailbox scripts.
