HP MSA2000 Storage Add On 3rd Unit

I have 2 MSA2000 enclosures that have 12 300GB drives per unit. The first is fiber attached and the second is scsi attached to the Fiber unit. I wish to expand the storage by adding a third MSA2000 unit due to running out of space. There is one slot available on the SCSI card for the 2nd enclosure, Is it possible to add a third enclosure to this configuration?

    Accepted Solution

Yes, you daisychain additional enclosures, standard top-down, bottom-up cabling.

See schematic entitled "Dual Domain with MSA2000 JBODs" (or the one below it with MSA70 enclosures). Mixing LFF and SFF JBODs isn't supported as far as I know although it works. MSA70 drawing is clearer although logically they're the same, just ports in different places.

Hmm, I see they've added mixed LFF/SFF since I last looked. Also forgot to mention if you have a single controller then there's no bottom up so use the single domain cabling instead.
