File > Open > click the All Files (*.*) dropdown box and change to All Word Templates (*.dotx;*.dotm*.dot). From this window, now go to:

C:\Users\<<login_ID>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Click on Normal.dotm and then the Open button.

Or you could actually just go to File > Open > go to the path of the Normal.dotm file and then open it without all the requisites I noted earlier...

C:\Users\<<login_ID>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Normal.dotm

I do not have a "normal.dotm" template.  It only shows normal/email (microsoft word macro-enabled template) and LiveContent.

If I change the NormalEmail and save and then open a "new document" the changes I made are not there.  Was our normal.dotm template not created or named correctly?

Thank you.

Go to File > Options > Advanced section (left-side button) > look in right-side section afterward > scroll all the way down > click the File Locations button.

Under User templates, you should see where the Normal template is set to reside if not in the default location that I noted earlier.

Check out the path listed under File > Options > Advanced > General > File Locations > User Templates

Navigate to that path and check the files in that folder.

No need to shout. I was just trying to help. Being rude won't get you far, so maybe better check your tone.

Word will not start without a Normal.dotm. If it does not exist, Word will create it at startup. It is somewhere. Now we need to find it.

Make sure you are not hiding any file extensions and make sure to show system folders. Then do a search for Normal.dotm and come back with the result.

Determine the template that is used by the document
Open the problem document in Word.

In Word 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Options.

In Word 2010, click File on the Ribbon, and then click Options.
Click Add-Ins.

In the Manage box, click Templates under View and manage Office add-ins
Click Go.
The Document template box will list the template that is used by the document. If the template listed should be " Normal"
        Click Attach.
In the Templates folder, click Normal.dotm, and then click Open.
Click OK to close the Templates and Add-ins dialog box.
       Exit Word.

Note: look at the location to see if it is saving in the location that yobri provided

ID: 35508447 Author: teylyn is absolutely correct. When you click on  Options-Advanced-General-File Locations-User Templates-Modify Click on MODIFY
This is the location where Word keeps Normal.dotx, Normal.dotm and other Word models!

As you can see, MY models for wWord 2010 are at this location: C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates, Paul being the value of <<login_ID>> in this path: C:\Users\<<login_ID>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
