Basic Open Atrium customization (add

Hi, I recently installed Open Atrium as a pilot intranet site, and wanted to ask for some help with basic customization in one of our groups:

in the group's dashboard page, I would like to have a block that can have html code, so I can insert an image and link it to a website.

I saw that I have to create a "feature" in order to make that, by copying one of the existing features - is this correct?

Given that I'm not familiar with Drupal, can someone provide step-by-step instructions for adding this content block in detail?

Also, any begginer's intro to Drupal resources online?

Thank you
