I am using a bootable CD to boot up the PC,  I would like to scan wim file (Dell Factory image) to see if the image has been infected.  Any good idea?

Using your default anti-virus software application, you should be able to scan the WIM image file fine... because of this question, I'm running an A/V scan with MS Forefront Client Security on a DVD media with a 6GB+ WIM file on it. It's scanning all the files in the WIM image accordingly (I can see each file that is being scanned and this process is taking quite a bit of time).

It's going on 50 minutes and still going through all the files contained in the WIM file...

The scan of the 6.65GB file took just over 53 minutes.
