Sharepoint and Windows SBS 2008 - CAL issue

Hi guys,

We are looking at implementing Sharepoint 2010, our domain controller is Windows SBS 2008.
We will have approximately 300 external users who will require access to it with their own separate user account.

Do sharepoint users need an account in Active Directory? With the domain controller being SBS 2008 with user limit of 75, what is the best way to implement this?

Thanks in advance.
