Moved data from in-house Exchange server to hosted Exchange--Outlook Anywhere proxy changes at will to old in-house mail server

Over the weekend, I created new accounts, backed up Outlook profiles, connected new profiles to the hosted Exchange account and imported the backed up PSTs to the new profiles.  Most, or all of the users' accounts connect to the hosted Exchange account but they also try to connect to the old server.  It doesn't matter if they're Windows XP workstations or Windows 7 workstations--Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2007.   Although, the Outlook 2007 users seem to get more messages about trying to connect to the old server.domain.local.  We still have the old server and it is still used as AD server and file server.  I was able to send out e-mail for a little while but now none of the users can send e-mail.  I notice that the Outlook Anywhere proxy settings get forced back to the settings for the old mail server after I change them to the new hosted Exchange host.  Please let me know if you need more information.  Any ideas?

I notice that the Outlook Anywhere proxy settings get forced back to the settings for the old mail server after I change them to the new hosted Exchange host.

>> what is the result for the Outlook Autodiscover?
(Outlook icon, ctrl+ right-click --> connection status window)
Is the current Outlook still reaching-out for the old-server?

>> if you have any settings for the hosted setup-server
Outlook profiles repair should be able to read the new values

if not, for a testing, we can shutdown the old-server and see if the Outlook if forced to reach the new server.

Thanks for the help.  It seemed to be a problem with the Offline Global Address book and it was synching with the current Global Address Book and sending email to the old mail server.  Got it all resolved now.
