You must have MS Exchange to merge AD data with exchange, and then if you set Global Address List you will get contacts in Outlook

we have exchange server 2007.

all the contacts are shown in AD, but when you view it from the outlook address list, the contacts are not there (one contact is missing from that address list)

try to manual sync global addresbook from Exch server on client (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/download-the-offline-address-book-HA010153532.aspx)
if no changes - then manualy rebuild global adress book on Exch server then sync book to client

Check if the outlook is in cache mode.
Remove from cache mode and check.

try next:
goto exchange management console
Organisation Configuration
Mailbox
choose Tab Offline Address Book
RMB Default Offline Address...
then click on Update.

BTW. i think there is no checked option named as "hide from exchange address list" on general tab of that contact properties. Isn't it?
