Sony VGN-TZ31WN_B running USB 1 not USB 2

Dear All

Whenever I plug in a USB drive into my laptop (several drives) I get the warning message that my USB devices are running at USB 1.1 speeds and not USB 2.0.

I have looked on the Sony website and there are no USB driver updates. I have done all the Windows updates, as well as deleting my USB devices under System, and then I did a hardware scan but my USB devices still run at USB 1.1.

can anyone help with this please?

USB drivers are usually part of the Chipset drivers, so make sure you have installed the chipset drivers. Sometimes you can also limit USB speeds from within the BIOS, so check for such options there, and last, sometimes it may help to try the different USB ports available on the PC.
