Authorize specific EXE to launch in 2008 GPO

We have a couple of exe applications that we would like to authorize for standard users to execute without elevating permissions or disabling the UAC. Is this possible? If not, what are some of the more common workarounds? Thanks!

    Software Restrticion Policies or Applocker for windows 7 clients.
