AIX 5.3 homedir issue(nfs export from RHEL5 to aix 5.3)

AIX 5.3 homedir issue(nfs export from RHEL5 to aix 5.3).

Hi All,
Still experiencing homedir wooo on AIX5.3.

Background:
Users homedir are on a RHEL5.6 Linux box and exported via nfs to about 3 AIX boxes. When I experience this issue the first time after disabling the RHEL 2node clusters, I ran the cmd below to resolve:
nfso -p -o nfs_use_reserved_ports=1
This cmd resolved the homedir issue on the other 2 AIX5.3 but the last one still doesn't work. I'm getting the error below:
3004-614 Unable to change directory to "/home/username".
        You are in "/" instead.
I know automount is working because all other nfs share exported from Solaris 10 box is mounting  fine. So I thought this was nfs3 vs nfs4 issue b/w Linux and AIX. Therefore, I tried mounting the home manually and it mounts manuelly when I specify nfs version 3 but it won't automount even if I add the "ver3" parameter.
Any help is highly appreciated..Thnx!

8.1.2 recommends parameters for AIX NFS client.

While it's not free, consider GPFS, so you can cluster your AIX/NFS servers in true active/active r/w mode.
We run it on AIX, but I believe GPFS will run on Linux and Windows as well.

Hi Gheist,
Thanks for the respond/link...the homedir is exported from Linux using the insecure option as suggested in the link....This is how the homedir are exported from Linux(/sharedgfs/homedirs     *(no_root_squash,async,rw) but the aix5.3 machine still cannot automount the homedire when users login..there are nfs share from Solaris 10 that's working...I can cd to any of them and it get automounted but somehow no luck with automounting homedir..

As far as the GPFS recommendation, Im not looking to create nfs cluster. The aix machine is a nfs client. We just want to automount homedir from Linux to aix 5.3..It was working and is working on two other aix 5.3 servers..

Any help is highly appreciated

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

they suggest adding following mount parameters

-rw,hard,intr,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,vers=2,proto=udp

i.e where you have
 -rw,intr,soft
you use
-rw,hard,intr,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,vers=2,proto=udp

Hi Gheist,
Still no joy..I added those parameters and it still cannot automount users homedir..Please see auto_home, auto_master and console log files below:

After my last post I noticed nfsd was in an inoperative state
nfsd               nfs                          noperative
nfsrgyd          nfs                           inoperative
 gssd             nfs                           inoperative

So i started nfsd group

#startsrc -g nfs
everything started except:
nfsrgyd and gssd

So i started gssd and nfsrgyd individually and got an output that they started but when I run lssrc they are still in an inoperative state. So i check the log and saw error in there on gssd and libgssapi_krb5...I believe when a user login auth is being pass to libgssapi_krb5 or kerbero but its broken so the user logs in but it fail to mount the homedir but I am not sure how to resolve..Please see the console log below:

No problem,
oslevel -r would be better indicator of system version...
AIX NFS has a lot of problems. I do a mount, copy, umount, and plan to change it into SCP or rsync+SSH (data integrity first).

No need to decommission the system. You can still make it into another Linux server using YellowDog linux (like RHEL with RPM etc)  ;)
