Bar and Line Graph on the single chart

Need to show multiple bar graph values by month/year as well as category.  Also need to show a line within the bar graph that represents the goal for each bar.  Tried a combination graph, but we have 2 “On change of” items (month/year & category) so it will not allow a second “Show value” item.  Also tried laying a transparent line graph on top of the original bar graph, but can’t get all of the dimensions of the graph to line up correctly.  Where it is correct for one page, it is over or under on the next page.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am using the CR2008

Start out with a bar graph only.
Right click on the series you want to turn into a line and bring up the Chart Series options dialog.
One of the choices there will be "Emphasize into..." and select LINE.

This should create a bar chart where one of the series of bars renders instead as a Line.

The Line Graph which i am plotting is separate column called as Goals, its not falling under the category.

I am doing a crystal line graph, in the show value section of the chart expert i do have the two column i.e.,Goal_Values and NetGoals.when i preview the graph both the lines are showing in red in color, so my question is how can i make both different colors

Some thoughts:

1) Right click on one of the lines and select "Format..." and pick a different color

OR

2) There is also a coloring tab in the ChartExpert where you can define colors and assign them to a paricular metric.

OR

3) By default, the line are supposed to be different colors. The fact that they are not may mean your data is "swapped" (series/groups reversed). In the ChartOptions... dialog there is a LEGEND tab and in that tab at the bottom is a "Swap series/legends" checkbox. See if checking that will make your lines different colors.

Can you post a sample .rpt? What you are claiming does not make much sense to me. Perhaps if I could examine .rpt, I might come up with something.
