I am using Acrobat Pro 8.  I have placed a "List Box" on the form with three options. When the form prints (and as seen on the screen) the field is shaded with white text.  I have tried changing the settings on the Properties / Appearance tab (Fill color to none and white) but it still displays AND prints shaded with white text.  I've tested this on several machines and they all produce the same result.  How can I get rid of the shading?  See attached print screen. THANKS list box shading

Here is a partial form - I was asked not to send the entire thing.  I've sent the offending field...
Thanks!

I understand now. The List box behaves exactly as it should. In essence it shows all the options available and then inverts the selected item to indicate the selection.

You have made the field small to only show 1 item hence the display is misleading. You can verify this yourself by increasing the field size. Both choices are now visible and the selected one is highlighted, thus prints that way.

I think you be better served using the Combobox field. This gives you a dropdown with available selection choices and only the selected is displayed. And that at the colour you choose in the Properties.

So please delete the Listbox and create a Combobox instead with the same values.

Perfect!  Exaactly what I wanted.  But, why DOES the list box print with the shading?  That doesn't seem like anyone would WANT that - maybe to show that it was a choice and not a typed entry?  Any - hoo...Using the Combo Box is EXACTLY what I wanted!  Thanks,

>>why DOES the list box print with the shading

The listbox is designed to display a list, so it is meant to have all the options displayed on the form and the user then clicks the one he wants. All other choices remain visible but the selected is highlighted. And obviously that also prints else if it did not you would only see all choices but would not know which one was selected.

Glad the combo works for you. Thanks for the accept.
