NAS Server with remote access capability?

My client has a static ip with currently 5 gigs of data.  Currently there is no dedicated server.  He'd like to put these files on a NAS server instead of using an on-line company which is what he's currently doing.  Is there a NAS server that can be accessed by remote users.  He would like everyone (both local and remote users) to access the NAS server via a mapped drive on there local computer.  He needs three different sets of files each with different user rights.  Is there such an thing without having to install a VPN?

Unless you go with a cloud-based service, there is no such device, and there will need to be a VPN for the remote users to connect to the NAS device.  Your client would be better served by a VPN, as it offers much more security than just putting a NAS device out on the Internet anyways.
