How do you script a mouseover pop up window?

Head out to http://www.pond5.com/video-sound-effects-music-after-effects-photos-illustrations/1/sound-effects.html They've got a really cool effect being done where you mouse over an image and you get a small window with some additional info in it.

I googled for the code thinking Javascript was the genius behind it, but the code that I found triggered the whole "pop up" alert on my browser and the aforementioned site doesn't do that.

How is this effect being done and is there some sample code out there somewhere so I can implement this baby into my page?
