i used to 1st cd,

please explain - what CD ?  Have you tried a Live CD to ensure that your network card is recognised, otherwise net install isn't going to fly.

I used this cd

debian-6.0.1a-i386-CD-1.iso

after putting the hostname .. it was able to discover the domain controller name automatically.. So i believed that  it was getting the IP from dhcp server

However

I have installed just basic system from the first Cd , after installation has finished , i saw it has network connections .

but it did not install from internet ..

Good, you have an installation. It's a while since I did a network install but the base system installs off the CD and then downloads packages - the network install CD version is debian-6.0.1a-i386-netinst.iso - so if it did the basics and found the network the rest should have been straightforward.

problem is :

if my understanding is right

the
debian-6.0.1a-i386-netinst.iso

and

debian-6.0.1a-i386-CD-1.iso

will be almost same.. but netinst.iso is smaller then i3 86-CD-1.iso

and netinst.iso is just a network install but by using i386-CD-1.iso  you can install network or basic install

the question is : why it were failing by using i386-CD-1.iso  ??

aha,
Mirror does not support the specifiq releases (squeeze )

Did you specify squeeze, or was it built in. If you can change it try "stable" instead.

when it fails do not abort the installation, go [back] and chose open a console from the Install Main Menu
(yes there's a install "menu" that if everything goes right we rarely see)
then you can cd /var/log and see the system.log file

you can see there why the mirror retrieval is failing

(I'm remembering these instructions from Ubuntu, but ubuntu install is identical to debian's)

why you cannot download the DVD?

Debian often refers to the current stable version as "stable" rather than by name, I'll try it out and see......

Installing the current version works from the net install iso image, selecting the first uk option from the list.

Seems odd, if the same CD works at home but not in the office. Assuming you entered any necessary proxy details.

Follow pmasotta's ideas to gather more info if it fails again.
