MS Access: Make a form only see certain records

With the help of EE the form “frmTools” is finally working it sees the three tables as I need it to.

I was hoping to use the SQL code from form “frmToolsLookUpDimensional” to make it so the form “frmTools’ would only see Dimensional tools.

I have looked for a “Row Source” in the data tab of the properties box but don’t see one. Why is this “Row Source” not in this form?

Here is the SQL code:

SELECT tblTools.Tool_PK, tblTools.ToolName, tblTools.TypeOfDevice, tblTools.Location, tblTools.Brand, tblTools.[Code_#], tblTools.[Model_#], tblTools.[Serial_#], tblTools.InUse, tblTools.Inventory, tblTools.OutOfService FROM tblTools WHERE (((tblTools.TypeOfDevice)="Dimensional"));

This could also be used in the field “TypeOfDevice” but I don’t see a Row Source on the Data Tab in the properties box.

Any idea on how to do this??

I have six other tables to do this with and I almost have a working example to use on the other tables.

Forms/subforms uses Record Source not Row Source (for combo/list box control)

Row Source or RecordSource ?

Row Source applies to Combo and List boxes ...
RecordSource applies to a Form.

Both of those of those options are not in the properties dialog box in that form. Where is Record Source in that form How do you apply the SQL code when those options are not there?

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

That's odd...

I can see the record sources of each form/subform quite clearly.

Open the form in design View
Press the F4 function key
Click the "All" Tab
Scroll all the way to the top.

To see the record source of the subforms simply click the small gray box in the upper left hand side:

Thanks, but I only helped with finding the Recordsource.

AFAICT, MX actually posted a solution to your question directly...
<Make a form only see certain records>
...where as I did not...

Now I can't see the other two forms "subfrmInspectionChecks" or "subfrmDimensionVerification" I need to be able to enter data in these two related tables. The form now sees just the "Dimensional" tools but not the related tables which need to be able to recieve data concerning the tool. Can I ask a related question and give more points or should I ask a new question??

I am going to try to reconnect the tables to the form first see if I can fix this.

I don't know what happened but now the form sees the other two forms. I didn't change anything. I don't know why it wasn't working just a few minutes ago.

FWIW,

I really don't care how the points are assigned...
A three way split would be fine with me...
But you could also exclude my post and just give points to MX and cap...

Jeff,

Your post was very informative to me as I did not know to right click on that little black square that is why I gave you the most points. You can give up some points to cap. You can choose how many. How to we do this?

Just click the "Request Attention" link and explain the points distribution you would like...
