Printing from browser takes long to open printer settings

When i click to print out of a browser It takes 30 seconds before the printer settings box opens. I tried switching printers but it does not matter what printer i use. It still takes long to open when trying to print from IE or firefox web browsers.

what could be the cause of this?

This question is worth 500 points.

mildogz--What version of IE or Firefox are you using?  In the case of IE try a newer version.

    The spool/printers folder was empty.

The person was mapped to several printers on the network. I just deleted all his printers completely. I then tried printing and the printer settings popped up as normal. I then remapped him one by one until i found which printer was causing the problem.

It was one of the network printers when he mapped to it the problem returned. So i deleted that printer again and printing worked normal.
