Best way to use outlook 2010 to remind me to follow up on something?

I need to remind myself to follow up on several emails and calendar appointments in outlook on a regular basis.
What is the best way to have outlook remind me to follow up on something?
I know outlook has a follow up option. Is that the best way?
I kind of need to follow up say 3 times on the same email / calendar event sometimes
Ideally I would like a reminder 3 times on different dates.
The calendar is something I check every day. Thinking I will put reminders as all day events - Any thoughts?
Just wanted some advise on best ways to handle such a scenario
