Hi everyone....I have an issue I cant seem to figure out.

One of my customers offices are out of the city so their only means of Internet is from Rogers. Its a 3G hub that is stable and quite fast for 5 users.
They asked me to setup Remote Access - which I thought I could disable DHCP on the Rocket Hub and add a router. (the Rocket Hub only supports FTP, TFTP, UPNP) On the Rocket Hub, it has 4 Interfaces. When you disable DHCP, Interface 1 has/must remain  192.168.1.1 (can anyone see my problem yet?)
When I add my router to the equation I cant use the Gateway of another device.
The router has all the Port Forwarding options I need to complete the request.

On the Router it has 4 LAN ports and Internet Port.
If I connect the Network Cable (Into the Internet Port) from the Hub (On port 1) No Internet can be found
If I connect the Network Cable (Into Port 1) from the Hub (On port 1) No Internet can be found
but I can ping the gateway.

FYI they also have a Windows 2003 Server running
Can anyone provide any help or alternatives to get this company Remote Access?

you need a firewall/router plug on the rocket hub and make the firewall deal with all the request for internet traffic etc.

Can you recommend an affordable solution?

ISA server? or are you talking from a Hardware perspective.

Please elaborate.

i would go with something much cheaper, isa is way too complicated too. Currently we have some symantec 200 vpn (they do not make them anymore) and they do the trick just fine. I do not know what is your experience with cisco but i find the new cisco asa 5500 excellent (base model will do for you)

xmlmagician: I have knowledge/ experience of ASA - problem is "Champagne Taste, Kool Aid budget"
xmlmagician: I can log into the 3G hub - but its connected via SIM card and is not based on PPOE
xmlmagician: 2 computers are using the wireless router feature of the HUB, 3 computers are attached via 1gig switch into port 1.

Does the 3g hub support static routes.
I have set up similar using 1751 (ebay £50 should fit the budget)
using vpn and adding routes to their network.
so long as the hub will pass the traffic back to your vpn on the router instead of the internet it works.

I have this exact problem, but I cannot use the link you provided to the rogers community forums as it seems to require a rogers account to be linked.

Can you please provide the details?

Thanks!
