I am running Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 pro 32bit, Office 2007 sp2. which has been working for about 2 week with no problems. Today when I launched outlook I get the "Microsoft office outlook has stoped working" message and can only start it in safe mode. I disabled all add-ins, Ran SCANPST, and even uninstalled and reinstalled Office to no avail, still get the error, any suggestions? I can run in Safe Mode but it is a pain as I have to reset everything each time I launch.

Some of your dat files which get loaded on startup may be corrupt.  Try the steps below

Reset extend.dat and outcmd.dat by renaming them to .old when Outlook is closed. You can find the locations below;

This file contains your Toolbar customizations

extend.dat: This file keeps the settings of installed Exchange Client Extensions add-ins and their status.

When you get the error, press Enter.

In the folder that opens, right-click Outlook.exe and choose Properties.  Select the Compatibility tab and make sure the compatibiliity mode check boxes are empty both here and when you select "Change settings for all users".  Click OK.  Now try Outlook again.

Try this in run  outlook /firstrun, and see it is crashing again. It will start the outlook as you run for the first time.

Or try this switch outlook /cleanviews which will clear your custom views or /cleanprofile which will removes invalid profile keys and re-creates default registry keys where applicable.

Thanks for all the suggestions, unfortunately  none of them worked, I did however find my problem. I am running Windows 7 Pro with XP virtual machine. The XP machine had office 2007 installed also even though I was not using Outlook on it it apparently shares files, so after trying all the suggestion offered hear and uninstalling and reinstalling on the Win 7 machine to no avail I uninstalled Office from the XP Virtual  machine and that fixed it.
