Virus issue

I ran Combo fix and it seems to have finished under Safe Mode, but I lost some/most of my notes.  I noticed that when this Combofix ran, it stated that it could not delete something or something along the lines of it deleting something.  Now when I start my XP machine and I go to the star menu, I don't have any programs under ALL Programs.  What I was thinking is to do a system restore to a point before I downloaded a file.  Is there a way to start system restore without having to go through the All programs route?  Maybe from command line or something?

ComboFix is not designed to be run in "Safe Mode", so I am not really sure what happened here.

If you're in Windows (not safe mode), hold the Windows key and press R.

In the Run dialog, enter C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press enter

Roy, just how in the world do you retain all of those directory notations in your brain like that?

    Accepted Solution

Anything that ComboFix does is reversable. So if System Restore is unavailable then we can use one of the backups that CF had created. It creates 2( before the scan and before CF reboots the system).
