SQL server 2008 R2 mirroring
I just Installed a fresh OS and sql 2008 R2 on two boxes and uninstalled sql 2005 reinstalling sql 2008 R2 on a third. The two fresh installs are my principal and mirror instances and the third box i had planned on using as a witness. Every time i try to add the witness i get a message:
The ALTER DATABASE command could not be sent to the remote server instance 'TCP://server.domain:5022' . The databas mirroring configuration was not changed. Verify the the server is connected and try again. (microsoft sql server, error 1456)
The mirroring is actually working with out the witness but i would like to try and use a witness if possible. After some research i have found some info about the issue but so far nothing seems to help.

I got to step three in the instructions and decided to remove the changes i had made. After i removed the cert i created and the key i tried the mirroring again and it worked. Don't know exactly what fixed it however it is working. Thanks.
