autowire by default

I was reading folowing lines and I did not understand clearly.
Autowiring by default
By default, beans will not be autowired unless you set the autowire attribute.
However, you can set a default autowiring for all beans within the Spring configuration
wiring file by setting default autowire on the root <beans> element:
<beans default-autowire="byName">
Set this way, all beans will be autowired using byName unless specified otherway
Any ideas, resources,sample code,links, highly appreciated. thanks in advance.
