HI,

I have a grandstream GXP 2020 connected to my network.
Gets an IP ok and I can login to the admin for the phone fine.

when ever I dial out, it says not registered.

What am I doing wrong?

As far as I know Ive entered the correct info from the voip provider.

1 - set all the preferred codecs to pcmu on 2 phones

2 - make direct IP call using the speakerphone from one phone to another

Please follow these instructions with the latest firmware on the 2 phones

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Did you put the SIP account information in the phone correctly ?
It has to have the sip information (proxy, user, pass), and be configured to use the proper codec.

Who is your voip provider ?

Do you have an Asterisk server in this question ?

Cheryl LanderAuthor Commented:
Provider is mynetfone.com.au

As far as i know sip info is correct. No asterisk server (used to usecasterisk and had same registration issue) we are now using a virtual pbx offered by mynetfone.com.au

Phone pluggdd straight into billion router.

First make sure you can resolve mynetfone.com.au to an ip address.

From command prompt type...
nslookup mynetfone.com.au

If so...
Verify that your phone is configured to use the proper dns server.

Next, make sure you don't have a firewall or router blocking.

Can you post some screenshots of the phone config page ?

3 likely possibilities....
Something is either preventing the phones registration from escaping your network, the phone is not properly configured to know how to get to the host to register, or the registration info is incorrect.

I assume this is also behind a NAT router....did the provider issue you "STUN" server  to use ?

Hi xuserx2000

Could this be possible.

Turned the pc and phone off over night and came in this morning and it all works?

HI I just did some further testing.

And it seems to register ok if I restart the router whilst the phone is on.

What IP address does the phone get?
Is it a private IP address or a public one?
If it is a private ip address and the router is performing NAT then this often causes problems.

First in the account settings turn on keep alives for the NAT Transversal option.

If that doesnt work contact the voip provider and ask if they have a STUN server you can use. Configure that in the advanced options and set NAT Transversal on in the account settings page.
