What a coincedence. I am in the same process of preparing for the Lab. This is what I am setting up.
I have a dedicated server (IBM 345) that I am installing Ubuntu on for GNS3. I will be using this for my routers. I will break it out to a 3750 using QinQ as described in this blog:

http://blog.ipexpert.com/2011/02/28/gns3-and-physical-switches-breakout-switch/

This will save you a lot of money, as you don't have to buy the routers, just the switches. I have already purchased a 3750 and 3560. I will be purchasing one more 3560, and two 3550. I will be all set then.

you will need for the configuration lab

- 4 switches preferably 3560
- 5 Routers
- 3 Backbone Routers

For the trouble shooting lab it would be best to use either GNS3 or Dynamips as you will be needing in the neighborhood of 30 routers.
