I've got one PC in which when opening a program it asks to  select the appropriate program. Unless I pick the correct file or program under Browse, everything wants to launch in Word, to launch itself. I am trying to run setup in Office (for the Repair Option) , but even the setup.exe asks me to pick the appropriate file or program so it can start. I am running setup from a network drive. BUT....if I log in as someone else, everything works fine.Suggestions as to how repair her account on this computer?

Must ask the obvious, is she an Administrator?

The repair tool didn't work. Ran it, but no luck. This client is in the admin group and i run the repair tool as her, but it too, was asking me for the  file or program to run it. Again, log in as Administrator and DID run the repair tool. It seem to work fine. Suggestions?

In that case it seems to be profile specific, I would rename the users profile to username.old and then have them log back in which will create a new profile for them. Test the fle associations and if they work then just move all their files into the new profile.

Ok, renamed the client profile to username.old and had her log back into the network. It let her log in, but now it says her profile didn't load correctly and she has a temp profile and anything she does will not be saved.

I have seen that myself, reboot the system, log in as yourself and make sure there are no extraneous profiles, make sure any "temp" profiles are deleted, then have the user log in again.

LOL, still at a lost. Ran Ccleaner and Avast just to make sure. Do you think saving the username.old to a flash drive, then deleting it from the C drive would help? Doing what you suggested, there was a temp user folder  (when logged in as me), but when I tried to delete it, there was nothing in it Had client  log into another machine and as you suspected, she logged in fine, its just her computer that seems to create a temp user folder when she logs in. Suggestions?

I think you do not need to rename the profile...what you can do it backup all the contents of the profile and then just delete it or just keep it for some time. Create a new profile and copy the old profile contents back in new profile.

Ok....the suggestion did not work. Now anyone who logs on gets the temp profile notice, except for admin. Tried using f8 to roll back to last config that worked ....still no difference.

At this point I'd go with a reimage of the PC, it will more than likely take less time than to figure out the root cause.
