How to create a pdf file from Visual Basic or C#

I need to create a PDF file based on the information contained in the invoice that is already printed from my ERP. The format of the invoice contains images, squares, and some lines to create a better look.

The ERP run under unix solaris but the data is accesible from windows using ODBC.

I have heard about "PDF converter tool" but I know that it opens some windows while converting the files. I need to do the conversion or creation of PDF totally in background without user interaction.

What is the best tool to do it?, combine crystal reports with .NET , how?
Should I use a third party converter tool?
Should I use some product from acrobat.com company?

Or what would be your recommendation?

Thank you

If I understand correctly, you need to make changes to a PDF generated by your ERP system.  Is that correct?

If that's the case, you can take a look at iTextsharp.  It's an open source PDF library for generating and manipulating PDF files on .NET.

What tool is used to produce the invoices?
Is it a reporting tool like Crystal or SSRS?
If so you probably can export the report to PDF

The invoiced is printed using the ERP software. The ERP is developed in .NET.

Because I have access to the invoice information, after the invoice is printed, I am planning to read the database and create a PDF file with the same information that was printed by the ERP.

Do you have access to a reporting tool like Crystal or SSRS?
There are versions included with Visual Studio

Here is a sample of how to build a report using a .Net dataset
