sp_execute in sql2005

when I on sql profiler, I see a lot of command started with exec sp_execute ..............
what is actually sp_execute means ?
IO also have intermittent problem with exec sp_execute  while doing inserts, sometiems it takes around 10-20 minutes to complete the insert, is that because of the exec sp_execute  or other factor such IO ?

    sp_execute :
    used after: sp_prepare:

    your performance problem is likely NOT because of the above, but either you are missing some index, or you have some triggers that are badly designed....
