SBS 2008 clients have updates disabled

I can't find out where to allow the clients to do there own updates in SBS 2008.
There is an error inside the Console with I click the link that says change the software update settings, the cosole just crashes.
In the GP I have edited every policy and went to admin templates, windows components, windows update, and disabled the Configure Automatic Updates. I have also tried enabling it but the clients still have the service disabled and I want to enable it on the clients end to do updates on selected computers.
