Mac OSX 10.6, office 2011 with outlook.  Server is running SBS 2008 with exchange 2007.
Last week, the outlook stopped downloading emails.  Outlook states it's syncing and downloading but nothing ever arrives into the inbox or sent items.  Have let this go for over an hour.  Have tried different internet connects at different locations.

I thought I could maybe delete the exchange database file so outlook would download and rebuild it but I don't see an .ost to rename.  I have found the documents\microsoft user data\office 2011 identities\main identity ...

I renamed \main identity\data records to data records.old  This has resulted when I open outlook it stated the database is corrupt and needs to be scanned and rebuilt.  I say proceed but it's sitting at the step 1 of 3: scanning.  It has created a new "main identity" folder and has renamed the original one as "main identity [backed up 2011-05-05 18.26.00]

Any help with step by step instructions on either purging or removing a bad outlook file so that it can download again would be great.

Hold down the Option key and click on Outlook.  This should open the Microsoft Database Utility.  You can select your Outlook identity and rebuild it (or add/remove an identity).

i did not get a chance to try that possible solution, after renaming the data records directory, i was essentially prompted to create a new profile and insert the server information again.
