2 things

You should be installing the latest version of WSUS 3.0 sp2

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a206ae20-2695-436c-9578-3403a7d46e40

When you installed IIS you also needed to install ASP.net

2011-05-01 09:04:18  Error     MWUSSetup          Error: Required IIS role service "Windows Authentication" is NOT installed. (Error 0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified.)

You might want to uninstall/reinstall IIS role

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

You may also need to make sure the directory you are installing to is not compressed
