Joomla 1.5 Email Link Error

Hi

I am having this unusual problem. with an email link on the our company website site created with Joomla 1.5.15.

Here it is:

Business: Accountancy Firm
Website created with Joomla 1.5.15

On our site we have a people's (http://tiny.cc/yhwlo) section with images of Partners of the Firm and below their image we have an email me link so that anyone can directly email the partners. upon clicking on the email me link this should open up your default email program with the partners email address in the "To" box.

All links work for all of the partners except one of the partners( http://tiny.cc/s7td9), upon clicking the email me link for this partner outlook opens,however there is a long line of code instead of the email address.

  Code instead of email address.
code: <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- var prefix = 'mailto:'; var suffix = ''; var attribs = ''; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy34134 = 'david.rodney' + '@'; addy34134 = addy34134 + 'citroenwells' + '.' + 'co' + '.' + 'uk'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '/'' + prefix + addy34134 + suffix + '/'' + attribs + '>' ); document.write( addy34134 ); document.write( '<//a>' ); //--> </script> <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '<span style=/'display: none; /'>' ); //--> </script>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '</' ); document.write( 'span>' ); //--> </script>

Does anyone have any ideas why this happens as the links for all other partners work fine on the website.

Here is the HTML Code of the article:

<table border="0" align="left" class="mceItemTable">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td><img class="pad" src="images/stories/partners/david_rodney.gif" mce_src="images/stories/partners/david_rodney.gif" border="0" width="78" height="117" align="left"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center"><a href="mailto:david.rodney@citroenwells.co.uk" mce_href="mailto:david.rodney@citroenwells.co.uk">Email Me</a></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<p>David is our Senior Partner. He specialises in advising family businesses on monetary matters and high-wealth clients on tax planning together with most other general practice work. He heads up our barristers and chambers department working closely with fellow partner, David Marks.</p>
<hr id="system-readmore">
<p>Forensic accounting is another of David's specialities, he has provided many expert reports. His clients range from multinational communication companies to fledgling companies in their infancy. At the tender age of 20, David qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Not only was he the youngest ever to qualify, he was also a prize-winner by attaining 5th place in the country in his final exams. He is also a Chartered Tax Adviser and member of the Faculty of Taxation.</p>

Thank you in advance for your help and for taking the time to look at this issue.

Could you post the HTML code of another article where the email link works. I wanted to compare. This looks weird. The source code is different. The one with the error has an extra section messing up the link.

Akajohn:

here is  the code for another partners emaillink which works:

<table border="0" align="left" class="mceItemTable">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td><img class="pad" src="images/stories/partners/mark_bailey.gif" mce_src="images/stories/partners/mark_bailey.gif" border="0" width="78" height="117" align="left"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center"><a href="mailto:mark.bailey@citroenwells.co.uk" mce_href="mailto:mark.bailey@citroenwells.co.uk">Email me</a></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<p>Mark is our financial services specialist and has been responsible for developing a significant presence amongst clients regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Mark started with us as a trainee and his long-term commitment to the firm has enabled him to build up a portfolio that includes many of the larger clients of the practice.</p>
<hr id="system-readmore">
<p>He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and specialises in providing innovative solutions to tax problems.</p>

Amazingly weird.

Can you try the following on the David page. Delete everything in the article. (make a back up of the text , of course).

Then

paste the following:

<table border="0" align="left" class="mceItemTable">
<tbody>
<td align="center"><a href="mailto:david.rodney@citroenwells.co.uk" mce_href="mailto:david.rodney@citroenwells.co.uk">Email Me</a></td>
<td align="center"><a href="mailto:mark.bailey@citroenwells.co.uk" mce_href="mailto:mark.bailey@citroenwells.co.uk">Email me</a></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>

If this produces a mistake on both email links please repeat the same on another page, say Stephen.

This is very weird and I am very curious.
Waiting for results...

HI Akajohn

i have followed your instructions. and the same happens, the long line of script appears in the email box rather then the email address for both partners using your code.

i have not tried any other partners yet as i am now home, at work i have a local copy of the website running on WAMP. i will try it out on monday on the local copy( i dont want to mess up the live site, as i am new to joomla)  and get back to you.

Really appreciate your help.

Many Thanks

Milad

Try going into extensions and plugin manager and disabling email cloaking.
