Excel attachments close automatically

I have a user that is able to open Excel attachments from within Outlook.  The file will open correctly, but will automatically close after about 5 seconds.

This problem does not happen if the user has his Excel program already open and running in his task bar.  To get by this, he needs to open Excel first, and THEN he can open Excel attachments without them automatically closing.

Any ideas?

This happens only on this specific user? This happens with all Excel attachments or only with a specific one?

Did you tryed to do a repair on his Office instalattion to see if this solves the problem?

    Author Comment

yes, it is only with one specific user.  However, it happens with ANY Excel attachments that are opened from within Outlook.

Also clear out the Outlook temp folder where it stores attachments as they are opened.  The location depends on your version of Windows and your version of Office.

    Accepted Solution

I just reloaded Office and it's working fine.

    Thanks for the help everyone.
