How do I upgrade to Javascript 1.8

I have javascript 1.3  the lastest version that I know of is 1.8.  I prefer to download this off of sun microsystems' website so I know I'm getting the real thing.  How do I do this?  Do I need to uninstall 1.3 first, or can I just load 1.8 off of Sun's site.

I tried to find the download on their site, and couldn't.  Do you know where it's at?

You are victim to a common misconception. You update Java (not Javascript) with a download from Sun. Javascipt is a different language and is developed by Netscape. Javascript is installed with the applications that use it including browsers, Adobe products, etc.

To update your Java, go to java.com. The page will detect what version you need and is an easy, step-by-step process.
