Installing SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence Development Studio on Windows 7

Does anyone know the proper way to install this application on a Window 7 machine.  There are so many technotes.  I have tried a bunch but to no avail, I know you need to install sp3 but I need to install the sql management studio first and it won't let me.  I did it once and it was a total pain, just wanted to do some leg work first.

Thanks in advance!

With Windows 7, you can only install SQL 2005 or 2008 tools so you wull have to install SQL 2005 or 2008 tools and customise your installation to include Business Intelligence Development Studio.

Please note that you do not have to make a full installation (if you do not need it) because this will install a database server which you might not need on your machine.

I'm trying to focus on getting you to have Business Intelligence Development studio on your Windows 7 host.

Before SQL 2005, (i.e with SQL 2000), being able to do Business intelligence development meant installing SQL 2000 reporting services. One had to install SQL server 2000, Visual studio dot net as prerequisites, then install SQL 2000 reporting services separately which would then include Biz intelligence dev studio. This is not the case any more.

Follow the guide and you will have it please, thanks.

If you install a Full version of SQL Server, it comes with package. Just select the BIDS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
Well, all you will have to do is install sql server and all the rest are included in the package.. such as SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
