JUnit Mock objects

I was reading folowing lines of code in junit test cases code. and I did not understand clearly.

Mock objects etc.
What are they. what do they do. how we use them to mock objcetc. Any resources,sample code,links, highly appreciated. thanks in advance.

In short: mock objects are simulated objects that mimic the behavior of real objects in controlled ways
