PSP CFW 3.90 UMD problem

I've got a psp 2000 running cfw 3.90, when I try putting in God of War umd it tells me i have to upgrade to 6.31 in order to play. I've tried holding down the R button and going into configuration and changing the umd settings but that didn't help.

Is there a way to get the umd to play while staying on 3.90?

No, you're either going to have to install the official version or upgrade your CFW (to the less stable M33-5 or better).  The Terms of Use of this site prevent us helping you with the custom firmware as it's effectively a hacked version of the Sony code.
