VPN is normally considered a business tool, and it works fine in Windows 7 Pro. I suggest you upgrade to Windows 7 Pro and then update to SP1.  .... Thinkpads_User

Turns out MacAffey was installed after the VPN was working and due to the Access Control settings MacAffey tweaks after being installed, the VPN connection info and icons disappear.  The connection still existed, it just wasn't being displayed. Windows 7 Pro should've been installed too.  After lowering the Access Control settings, the the VPN connection information became visible again.

Install Windows Pro w/ SP1 and check the Access Control list after intalling MacAffey to ensure the VPN info can still be seen.
